Join a supportive group of writers for a monthly one-session writing group and write from memory or imagination in a comfortable, judgement-free zone. You’ll be surprised at just how many stories you have to tell.
Date: by invitation
Time: TBD
Place: by invitation
What to expect:
We’ll spend our time together writing with several carefully planned prompts (5-15 minutes each) meant to spark our creativity. I might read a poem or present a scenario–all crafted to help you generate ideas. And in the Amherst Writers method, I’m not a teacher–I’ll be writing right alongside you.
Each group member is encouraged to share their writing aloud. And that includes the facilitator–we’re in this together. In the spirit of the method, our responses to the writer are always positive. I’ll ask group members to tell the writer what they’ll remember or what worked in the piece. This is not a critique group!
All of the writing is treated as fiction, so the focus will be on the story, not on you. (Which I think you’ll find incredibly liberating–I know I did!)
